Basic Information about the admission process
School year 2008-2009
We appreciate your interest in our school and we have prepared this information to help you understand our standards and admission procedures. St. Patrick School of Santo Domingo is an American type School with high academic standards.
General Admission Requirements
- Have the minimum age for the applying grade (before Sept. 30th).
- Complete the admission process steps.
- Complete and pass the admission tests in English, math and Spanish for students applying for elementary, middle school and high school.
- Take and complete the psychological assessment.
- Have a good academic background with no pending subjects.
- Demonstrate good discipline and attitude.
Elementary candidates should also:
- Have the minimum age required for the applying level (before sept. 30th).
- Recognize lower case and upper case letters.
- Be ready for the reading and writing process.
- To have the appropriate vocabulary level.
- Be able to follow instructions.
- To have the appropriate English level for the applying grade.
- Get good results on the admission tests.
- For upper grades applicants should have enough English skills to read text books and participate in complete English classes.
M/S (6-8) and H/S (9-12) candidate should also:
- To have the appropriate vocabulary level.
- Show a positive attitude towards changing to a new school.
- To be able to follow instructions and rules.
- To have good communications skills in both English and Spanish.
- To have the appropriate English level for the applying grade.
- For upper grades applicants should have enough English skills to read text books and participate in complete English classes.
- Get good results in the admission tests.
Admission Policies
- The school reserves their right of accepting or declining a student.
- The admission processes is confidential and only some school authorities have access to the documentation and files.
- The admission tests and results are school property and they are only for internal use.
- If a student is accepted the admission department will notify of the steps to be taken.
- Some grades have limited capacity; therefore, the school will only admit those candidates that complete all the requirements first.
- If a candidate does not fulfill the school requirements he/she will not be accepted, even though, we have availability.
- Some candidates will be given a second chance to be re-evaluated if there is availability and he/she is close to meeting the school requirements.
The school does not have a special needs program

Steps for Admission request
The admission at St. Patrick School is open to those candidates that comply with the above mentioned requirements.
The steps to follow are:
- Request a meeting on the admissions office, to give you all the information regarding our Philosophy, Mision, Vision and Methodology and to give you a tour through our school facilities. Tours are given between 8:00 and 9:30 a.m. every day.
- Fill out all our admission forms. (Available at the main reception).
- Submit the following documents within the established dates:
a) Report card of the current school year and the year before.
b) Good conduct letter from the previous school.
c) Two pictures 2X2.
d) Original birth certificate (If it is not in Spanish it should be legally translated to Spanish and submit the translation in its original version and legalized by the “Procudaduría General de la República Dominicana”.)
f) Pruebas Nacionales certificate (Students from 8th – 12th grade).
g) Admission fee payment of RD$1,000 – paid through the administrative office before the evaluation date.
- Once the documents are submitted and the forms are completed, we will assign a date for the admission test.
1. Preschool: The admission process for the preschool consists of the integration of the child in the applying grade for observation. This visit can be scheduled for any day Monday through Friday through the admission office.
2. Elementary: Tuesday from 8:00 am – 10:00 am
3. M/S HS (6-12): Wednesday from 8:00 am – 10:00 am
Note: A student can be requested to assist to a second evaluation, in case the result needs to be validated.
- The evaluations are alone in the academic areas of math, Language arts and Spanish and in the socio-emotional development.
Enrollment Process
Once the admission is complete and the candidate is accepted, the enrollment process should be completed between the next 3 working days.
To formalize the enrollment you will need:
- Fill out the enrollment form.
- Original birth certificate. *
- Official medical certificate.
- Immunization record up to date.
- 8th grade official grades (9th – 12th).
- Health card (attached with vision and hearing screening).
- Any other document required by the school such as commitment contracts in those cases where the students need reinforcement and or English classes.
- Complete the payments of: Enrollment, materials and 1st tuition payment according to the plan chosen.
Note: The school cannot guarantee space for accepted students for more than 3 working days. After those days have passed the school will assigned the space to another student.
