How It Works

Throughout the school year, the program organizes fundraising activities and service events focused on specific causes. If our financial goal is met during the first semester, a new cause is selected for the second semester, allowing our students to expand their outreach and maximize their impact.

Make Someone Happy

Spreading Joy, One Act at a Time

Launched in 2007, Make Someone Happy is a social action program created by St. Patrick School to build a more compassionate and socially responsible community. Born from the desire to cultivate leaders who not only excel academically but also serve others with heart, this initiative engages students in meaningful actions to support the most vulnerable members of our society — living true to its name by making someone’s life a little brighter.

At St. Patrick School, we believe education extends beyond the classroom. Through Make Someone Happy, our students learn empathy, leadership, and the power of collective action. They experience firsthand how their efforts, no matter how small, can have a lasting impact on individuals, families, and entire communities.

Service Learning Integration

Make Someone Happy is part of our broader Service Learning commitment, which blends academic instruction with community service. Every project follows a five-step process: investigation, preparation, action, reflection, and demonstration.
Through this model, our students connect their classroom learning with real-world social issues, fostering leadership skills, critical thinking, and a deep sense of civic responsibility.

Our Impact Over 20 Years

For nearly two decades, St. Patrick School has touched countless lives through Make Someone Happy:

  • Thousands of items donated, including food, clothes, toys, and school supplies.

  • Hundreds of volunteer hours dedicated to community service projects.

  • Tens of thousands of pesos raised to support health, education, and environmental causes.

  • Lasting partnerships with foundations making a difference in the Dominican Republic and beyond.

  • Generations of students shaped into compassionate leaders committed to serving others.
