CARE

Welcome to the
Well-being  Department

The Counseling Department is dedicated to promoting the academic, career, and social-emotional success of every student. We believe that learning extends beyond academics, and we are here to support your child's holistic growth and well-being from their first day to graduation. Our goal is to empower students with the skills, knowledge, and self-awareness needed to navigate challenges, make informed decisions, and thrive in a complex world.

Fostering Holistic Growth

The Well-being Department focuses on nurturing every student across three core areas, ensuring a balanced, comprehensive approach to their development.

1. Bien Ser (Well-Being / To Be Well)

This area focuses on the internal, emotional, and social-relational growth of the student. It is centered on developing a strong sense of self-worth, emotional intelligence, and interpersonal skills. Activities and programs in this pillar promote self-awareness, mindfulness, resilience, and the ability to form healthy relationships with peers and adults.

2. Bien Hacer (Well-Doing / To Do Well)

This pillar addresses the student's academic and executive function skills. It is dedicated to equipping students with the tools they need to be effective, organized, and successful learners. This includes promoting strong study habits, time management, goal setting, critical thinking, and the development of a proactive and responsible approach to their daily tasks and academic challenges.

Bien Estar (Well-Living / To Feel Well)

This area encompasses the physical and environmental health of the student. It is focused on creating and maintaining a safe, supportive, and stimulating school environment while promoting healthy lifestyle choices. Key aspects include physical activity, nutrition education, stress management, safety protocols, and ensuring a positive, inclusive atmosphere where every student feels secure and valued.

SEL for Regulation and Support

Socioemotional Learning is integrated into daily life at our school to help every student thrive. We equip students with critical skills like self-awareness and self-management so they can navigate their emotions effectively. A key element of this is our dedicated SEL Regulation Centers—safe, designated spaces where students can use tools and strategies to calm down, re-focus, and return to learning ready for success.

Our entire staff is trained to provide proactive, compassionate support for students' emotional needs right in the classroom, ensuring a learning environment that is supportive, inclusive, and focused on holistic growth.

Social-Emotional Well-being
and Regulation

The Counseling Department is the hub for student mental health and emotional support.
We promote a positive school climate and teach essential life skills through:

  • Individual and small-group counseling for navigating personal, peer, or family challenges.

  • Crisis intervention and referrals to outside mental health providers when needed.

  • Integrating Socioemotional Learning (SEL), including the use of SEL Regulation Centers, to help students effectively manage stress, build empathy, and resolve conflicts.

Connecting With a Counselor

We are an accessible resource for students, parents, and staff. Whether you have a quick question about a student, need assistance, or require support for a personal issue, please don't hesitate to reach out. We look forward to working with you to support your student's journey!
